ROLE: Mage
CLASS: Mage
LIFE: Points: 1
MANA: Points 5
ARMOUR POINTS: NO!
RP DIFFICULTY: High/Very High
PHYSICAL: High
INVESTMENT: Medium/High
You wield the dark powers of magic which give you many advantages over other classes. Mages are considered as intellectuals and strategists as you wield the power to raise great impenetrable barriers which none without magic shall pass. You are expected to provide protection with your magic circles and spells and destroy such of our enemies. You are constantly hungering for more mana and power and for this the world of Nordic Equinox has provided you a tool, a chest which can only be carried by mages to drain mana from the world.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
A Mage does not lose consciousness when using mana.
A Mage is the only one who can initiate a ritual circle.
A Mage is the only one who can switch magic (electric) lighting on or off.
A Mage is the only one who can walk through magic circles (marked with a blue cloth ribbon).
A mage can create magic circles.
A mage can destroy or reinforce magic circles created by other mages.
Can create mana potions with the help of an alchemist.
Can interpret the text from artifact cards in-game.
SPECIAL RULES:
Mages will have to role play their abilities and ideally be identifiable by costume.
Mage’s mana is restored each time the sun rises or sets (in game mechanics terms respectively 22:00 and 10:00).
A Mage can wear no effective armor (can have armor-grade materials as a part of the costume but it won't constitute as armor when worn by a Mage) and use no shield.
A Mage may gain additional armor- or hit points for their costume and roleplaying. Points gained by this may exceed the maximum amount allowed by current rules.
Similarly, if a Mage doesn't have a distinctive costume and/or doesn't make an effort to act out the role, player may lose some or all of their class abilities.
A Mage must visibly wear a wide blue ribbon or small flag to signify their status. This ribbon is an out-of-game item and only other Mages can react to it (recognize it).
Expectations for Character creation:
BODY ARMOUR: You are not expected to be armored and your garb should allow you free movement and strongly represent your role. However since there are no limitations to wear armor we recommend providing yourself with some protection against the elements.
HELMET: There is no expectation for wearing a helmet but you are free to wear various head decorations for RP.
GAMBESON: You are not expected to wear any protective clothing however you are free to do so for your own protection if it fits your RP (e.g being a battle mage)
SHIELD: Not allowed
WEAPONS: You are free to pick your fighting style based on your preferences. We recommend long spears to stand behind our main troops and support in battle while no action is required.
Other Expectations: We recommend working on your strength and stamina to be fit and agile and put lots of attention in your role play skills. Mages have an important role in collecting mana which keeps you constantly on the move. Additionally since being a mage is more RP heavy role you should be prepared to be crafty and custom build your garb and staff for light source.
